DAY ONE:
Prepare yourself for a ridiculous amount of photos and videos.
We all met up at the ranch on Sunday afternoon where we were met with
this year's official camp shirts courtesy of LA. Her girls like gear
and she provided.
We wasted no time with details like unpacking, instead jumping straight
into nature. Pappy found a baby turtle that the kids got to touch,
paint a BR on with nail polish so we could identify it later, and then
release it back "to its mommy."
Evie won't go to many people besides me but she has a special place for LA, also calling her Mama.
One of my favorite pictures of the whole week. Hannah looks like she
belongs in a Boca Raton retirement village who is boarding the community
shuttle for a day betting on horses and drinking. I'm obsessed with
Hannie. She never disappoints with her spirit, sass, and awesome
commentary.
Our always prepared Girl Scout. She looks like Jordan and acts like her
mother. If someone says wear this and follow these rules, you better
bet she does and helps enforce the law. Probably while singing.
Pappy's Posse.
We watched the sunset from the pool deck, overlooking the land that Pappy just had cleared.
While drinking just a wee bit too much wine. Yes we have purple teeth. And had a lot of fun.
The next day was the first official day of camp. Top photo was 2014 and bottom 2015.
The first day's theme was "Earth, Wind, and Fire." … all about nature, rocks, and kites.
This morning Pappy found the "Mommy" turtle. She was unimpressed with
us and kept showing us her long creepy neck and snapping mouth.
We drove down to the river for her release. Thank God Hannah found a
useful walking stick to help us on our adventure. The more equipment
the better.
We camp home to paint our found rocks. This was a favorite activity, esp for Wyatt.
After naps, we played outside, attempted to fly kites without wind, and
then decided it was too hot and still, so we should just give up and go
swimming.
Hannah liked to explore all her flotation device options.
And is way too confident for our comfort.
Post dinner ranch drive to check out our now overflowing tanks.
And a pre bedtime dance party.
Hannah just couldn't possibly go to bed when everyone else did. She had to stay up and watch the sun "go into the bush."
What a fabulous first day!
